This is the human face after four years of war. The first picture looks at you, the second one looks through you. Evgeny Stepanovich Kobytev became a prisoner of war and was taken to a notorious concentration camp which was called the “Khorol pit”. It is said that approximately ninety thousand prisoners of war and civilians died in that camp. He managed to escape in 1943 and returned straight to the front lines, fighting all the way to Germany, earning the Order of the Red Star and the Hero of the Soviet Union medal.
